Description

From Moiseeva (2012) (p. 90)

"Leaves simple, entire, slightly asymmetrical, small to large, 2.5–15.0 cm long and 1.8–6.5 cm wide; medium-sized leaves 7–9 cm long and 4–5 cm wide dominate. Leaf lamina broad elliptical or more oblong, elliptic and ovate. Leaf base broad rounded or broad cuneate, sometimes narrow cuneate. Leaf apex acute, tapered, sometimes cuspidate.

Leaf margin serrate; teeth acute, small, less than 1 mm high, sparse, appressed and accumbent; in the last case the margin looks as almost entire. Marginal teeth triangular, with apical seta curved and facing leaf apex. Apical sides of teeth concave, the basal ones
convex. Petiole is 1.0–1.3 cm and 1.5 mm thick.

Venation pinnate, semicraspedodromous or festooned semicraspedodromous
embossed. Secondary veins (5 to 15 pairs) alternately depart from the midrib at the angle about 40°–50°; the lower ones are nearly opposite. Intervals between lateral veins often decreasing toward the leaf base. Three lower pairs are connivent in most cases, departing at the angles close to 90° from the midrib. Nonparallel sinuous and arcuate secondary veins branch at different angles. As far apart as 0.4–1.0 cm from the leaf margin, bifurcating and anastomosing secondary veins form a series of loops, and short veinlets departing from external side of loops enter marginal teeth. Tertiary venation alternate-percurrent. Veins conspicuous, frequent. Venation of the fourth order polygonal reticulate, forming network of ortho- and pentagonal areoles."
