Description

Simple (pinnate appearance); actinodromous; elliptic; large leaves up to 23 cm long; acute apex; round base; teeth close, regular, acute; midvein straight, curving slightly apically; weak pectinals; pectinals and superior secondaries similar strength, weaker than midvein, curved, diverging from midvein at 50° to 60°, branching repeatedly abmedially near margin, fewer branches near leaf apex; craspedodromous; basal pectinal abmedials appear to branch and loop, semicraspedodromous; inferior secondaries recurved; tertiary veins percurrent simple or forked, straight or convex; fourth order veins indistinct. (Similar to morphothype 54, but in 55: base is round not acute; teeth are acute and more regular; pectinals and superior secondaries branch near margins, rather than curving.)
