Description

Leaf:  simple; symmetrical (?); shape unknown; apex obtuse; base missing; margin dentate; teeth with obtuse apices and shallow rounded sinuses more or less regular in spacing, variable in size but always less than 5 mm long; venation marginal perfect actinodromous; primary midvein moderate to weak, straight, pectinal veins moderate, straight arising at an angle of 35-40°; pectinal abmedial arising at 40-50°, sometimes forked, craspedodromous; superior secondaries subparallel to the pectinals, the more basal ones branched on both ad- and abmedial sides; tertiary veins percurrent usually simple, sometimes forked, joining both ad- and abmedial sides of the secondaries at acute angles; fourth order veins simple percurrent, straight or slightly sinuous.

Remarks

The base of the leaf in these hamamelid-like leaves is the most diagnostic part of the lamina and when it is absent, as in this case, comparison with published forms is difficult.  This specimen could represent one of a number of simple unlobed 'platanoid' forms.
