Corwin Formation

Description. The outcrop exposes dark gray carbonaceous silts/shales underlying fine sands. Silts contain Podozamites, Ginkgo, Equisetites rhizomes, rare Birisia and Pityophyllum. Podozamites and Equisetites predominate. Plant roots are abundant and Equisetites rhizomes with nodules occur even in the sandier facies. In the overlying sands there are ripples with 2.5 cm wavelengths, plant fragments, worm traces and possible bivalve impressions.

Interpretation: Probably a near marine interfluve environment.
