Corwin Formation

Specimens: 96 RAS 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36

Description. Poorly consolidated interbedded carbonaceous mudstones and nodular siltstones up to 1.5 m thick are overlain by a cross bedded fine sand channel fill. Loose, well rounded chart green pebbles suggest a basal pebble lag in the sandstone. The flora is restricted to the siltstones and is dominated by Pityophyllum  ex gr. nordeskioldii. Ginkgo leaves are also common and Equisetites rhizomes are common. There are abundant reproductive structures (1 and 2) and Kenella filatovii seeds. Also occuring are Birisia alata, Sphenopteris sp.  and rare Nilssonia serotina.

Interpretation: The fine sands of a channel overlay the siltstones of crevasse splay/floodplain deposits containing the flora.
